When someone fills out a form, you want them to get the thing they signed up for (the lead magnet), and then also get your welcome sequence if they’re new to your list. The challenge is preventing people who are already subscribed from receiving the welcome sequence again.
A: Use audience segments and separate automations.
The cleanest way to handle this is:
Form submission → Segment:
Set your form to add the subscriber to a specific audience segment (e.g., “Lead Magnet A Signups”).
Deliver lead magnet in the same automation:
Right after form submission, include the email that delivers the promised resource.
Welcome sequence for new subscribers only:
Create a separate automation that is triggered when someone is added to your main list (audience) for the first time.
This ensures they get your full welcome flow once.
Avoiding duplicate welcomes:
If someone is already on your list, they’ll still receive the lead magnet (since that’s tied to the form).
But they won’t re-enter the welcome sequence, because the welcome automation only runs for new subscribers added to the audience.
